Chihiro
Chihiro (or Sen) is the ten-year-old protagonist of the film. While somewhat brash, going against her parents’ advice, it is her kindness that allows her to free herself and her parents. Her growth defines the film, becoming more reflective and sure of herself.
No Face
No Face has no lines throughout the film but represents how malleable we are, changing based on his circumstances. He begins off by feeding his enormous greed, but becomes calm and kind by the end of the film.
Haku
Haku is a lost river spirit who takes the form of a sixteen year old boy. His river was paves over and so he wanders in his human form. His friendship with Chihiro defines the film, and in the end she is able to reveal his true identity and free him from Yubaba.
